Have you felt ever puzzled after the business meeting and not quite sure what was going on? Sometimes negotiations go well and it seems that the deal just about to drop on your basket, but afterwards nothing happened. What is the meaning for all nodding and smiling, and why the turnout is the silent end? During the negotiations with the Asians, especially Chinese-speaking communities, have their own non-verbal ways to show the hierarchy and the decision-making line. Do you know it?

Most of Europeans have very straight-forward and informal communications even in business. Among us, there are, of course, cultural variations.

Come to find out how to negotiate in Asia and learn at the same time essential cultural differences between South-East Asia and Europe. Or are there any?

It is not about only general introduction but we will deep dive to your own personal profile as individual style, and explore how you may work out your own way by integrating to this most diversified region ecosystem, without losing your own identity and uniqueness, on the journey to explore the dynamics of changing era with innovation and creativity, and in your daily communications with your international colleagues, or local business partners.

The workshop is split into two parts. The first session will concentrate on the business culture differences with 7 cultural dimensions by working on your own individual profile, different cultural norms & business etiquettes. After a break, we will dive deeper into the negotiation differences in South-East Asia and China. With the interactive and engaged workshops, we will equip you with more negotiation skills and techniques with enriched cross cultural elements.

Ms GAO Bo will share insights how to interpret different business culture from various dimensions by combining best in practice cross cultural models, and how to manage the cross cultural negotiations, when you interact with your counterparty of Asian as clients, suppliers, peers and team management?

Bo is the founder and Managing Director of BD Asia Consulting, a consulting company operates in both Asia and Europe focusing on cross border M&A and international expansion consultancy, and she has decade working experiences with Europeans.

She has been working in different industry leading companies as Alcatel-Lucent, L’Oréal, Procter & Gamble, LVMH Group in Europe and Asia. She has led different projects in EMEA and APAC region including purchasing organization transformation, cross function sourcing process set up & optimization, M&A transactions negotiation and purchasing lead for green field project up to hundreds of millions of euros investment across the region.

Bo holds a master’s degree from Ecole de Management Grenoble, France, Trompennars Hampden-Turner Certified Licensee for Cross Culture and Dilemmas in Business, and Executive Program Certificate in Leadership & Negotiation from Harvard University, Boston, USA.
